medical commission of seafarersBased on the STCW Convention as amended, the Maritime Administration of the Commonwealth of Dominica issued a circular regarding approval by Dominica of practitioners for medical examinations of seafarers and the procedure for issuing medical certificates to seafarers.
We have medical practitioners who received authorization on the basis of this circular to conduct medical examinations of seafarers and issue them medical certificates on behalf of the Maritime Administration of the Commonwealth of Dominica.
Since Dominica is listed in the “white list” of flags – parties to the STCW Convention, issued medical certificates are recognized by most other countries – parties to the Convention for sailing on vessels under their flags.

Medical examinations of seafarers are carried out in Moscow and Montenegro.
Travelling of a doctor for medical examination of groups of sailors and crews is available.
A medical certificate can be issued not only on the letterhead of Dominica, but also in any form required by another flag.  In this case, it will contain a reference to the doctor’s approval certificate, and a copy of this certificate can be attached, if necessary.
